Bethan Travers is a new team member at TherapyXperts. She has a strong interest in musculoskeletal and sports injury rehabilitation, with an initial degree in Sports Science combined with MSc Physiotherapy training. She already has considerable expertise in assessment, clinical reasoning, exercise prescription, and manual therapy, a particular skill she is keen to develop here at TherapyXperts. She has ongoing experience in pitch-side sports Physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation for chronic conditions.
As part of the TherapyXperts Team she is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care in a private practice setting.

We are delighted to welcome local man Kealan to the TherapyXperts team of Coru registered Chartered Physiotherapists.
He graduated with 1 st class honours in the MSc in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, having previously undertaken a BSc in Athletic Therapy and Training at Dublin City University.
From a strong background in sports rehabilitation and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, having worked as an Athletic including Shamrock Rovers FC Academy, Maynooth GAA, Naas GAA, St Brigid’s GAA, and DCU Ashbourne Camogie, he brought this to a higher level with his MSc, giving him a breadth and depth of knowledge across the discipline of physiotherapy. His particular interests include MSK/ muscle injuries, sports-related conditions, exercise-based rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning. His MSc Thesis was on hamstring injuries.
He is also a qualified Emergency First Responder and Cardiac First Responder, with a calm and professional approach to patient care. Outside of work, he has a strong passion for sport, particularly football. Having joined Maynooth Town FC as a toddler, Kealan now captains an adult team. He maintains a keen interest in fitness.
Elizabeth qualified from Trinity College, Dublin in 1989. She chose to specialise in Women’s Health and worked clinically in female incontinence in The Coombe Women’s Hospital and The Mater Hospital, prior to joining the Academic staff of the TCD Discipline of Physiotherapy in 1999 where she remains to date. Her research areas include pregnancy and childbirth urinary incontinence (female & male), bone health and breast cancer.
At TherapyXperts Maynooth we are delighted to avail of Elizabeth’s knowledge and expertise the specialty of continence.
Continence Service:
Elizabeth accepts both medical and self-referrals. Initial consultation, which is booked through TherapyXperts is of 1 hour duration, with detailed assessment (including consented internal exam if appropriate ) and a management strategy of advice, individualised graduated pelvic floor exercise regime, and electrotherapy and biofeedback as required.
Follow-up sessions are of 30 minutes duration.
This unique local service has been warmly welcomed by local GPs and boasts many delighted patients who have put years of urinary discomfort behind them!
Niamh Williams | Lead MSK Physiotherapist
BSc (1st Class Honours), MISCP, CORU Registered
Niamh Williams joined TherapyXperts in 2021 and has recently become our Lead MSK Physio, specialising in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and sports injury presentations. Her approach is rooted in advanced clinical reasoning; moving beyond the symptoms to understand the ‘why’ behind every injury. Putting the patient at the centre of each session, she has a proven track record of successfully navigating their pain, symptoms and recovery with confidence. In her own words “by integrating the latest evidence-based technologies and a highly personalised 1-on-1 treatment model, I am committed to ensuring that every patient who walks through our doors receives the highest standard of care”.
Niamh is a qualified Pilates Instructor offering several weekly Medical Pilates Classes with a Physiotherapy Rehabilitation focus. She has taken advanced training in Acupuncture and attends regular CPD courses.
BIOGRAPHY
Niamh qualified with a 1st Class Honours BSc from Northumbria University in Newcastle, England in 2017. She went on to work in the NHS for 3 years completing rotations in all disciplines including A&E, Orthopaedics and MSK. She especially worked in the area of orthopaedic rehabilitation classes, giving her a special understanding of the use of classes in rehabilitation.
Niamh received a Star Award for her contribution and dedication to the commencement and running of a new pilot ward in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, with rehabilitation being the core focus.
Special Interests
The Spine Treating everything from the neck to the lower back including nerve pain, degenerative changes and muscle imbalances. Niamh has received specialist training in this area from Mairead.
The Knee Having ruptured both ACL’s, Niamh’s keen interest in the knee is the rehabilitation process required to get back to sport.
The Shoulder Particularly tendinopathies and frozen shoulder.
Orthopaedics While working in the NHS, Niamh helped design and teach rehabilitation classes for Total Hip and Knee Replacements and believes that the hard work starts post-surgery!
Pain Pain is a very personal/complex topic that interests Niamh greatly. She completed her thesis in this area.
Dance Injuries Niamh has a special interest in dance injuries and treatment having danced with the Grainne McArdle Ballet School in Celbridge for 10+years.
Hobbies
Mairead established Maynooth’s first Private Chartered Physiotherapy practice in 1992. With nearly 40 years clinical experience, including a decade as Senior Clinical Teacher in Trinity College Dublin School of Physiotherapy, junior roles in The National rehabilitation Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, she has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of orthopaedics, musculoskeletal (MSK) presentations and sports injuries. She is especially keen to assist return to a full active life after chronic pain, injury or illness.
As Practice Principal, Mairead sets the tone for the TherapyXperts team, with a firm emphasis on clear assessment, physiotherapeutic diagnosis, considered appropriate treatment, coupled with best advice and education.

Mairead, a life-long learner,completed an MSC in Physiotherapy in 1998, with a Distinction in her experimental Thesis on Neck Muscle dysfunction testing. She continues to attend CPE events, both in Ireland and internationally on a regular basis.
Other Interests:
An avid fiction reader, Mairead adores sewing, designing and making most of her own clothes. She is an active member of the Plurabelle Paddlers Breast Cancer Dragon boat team, competing at regattas at every opportunity. She also loves walking.
